Rachel Schambow, a second year veterinary student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and 2012 graduate of Milton High School, is the recipient of Friends of Noah’s 2017 scholarship. This scholarship is made available to veterinary students from Rock County as part of the organization’s educational outreach commitment to the community.
Rachel’s goal for the future is to work as a large animal veterinarian with an emphasis in public health. Ideally, she says, she would love to work on a national or global level on issues such as antibiotic use in food animals, proper animal husbandry, and disease control, perhaps for a state or federal government agency.
“Scholarships such as these are greatly appreciated and important in helping students overcome the tremendous debt load of education," Rachel said. "This gives students like me more freedom in pursuing a veterinary career we are passionate about. I am very thankful that there are organizations like Friends of Noah supporting us veterinary students!”
